Brunk talks visits

A pair of official visits have now been taken by Joey Brunk.

Four-star Indianapolis (Ind.) Southport standout center Joey Brunk has had a good spring. As one of the top players on the Under Armour circuit, Brunk has attracted a lot of interest, and also continues to move forward in his recruitment.

“It’s been a fun spring so far,” Brunk explained. “The Under Armour circuit has been real fun and competitive. There are a lot of good bigs out there. Also I have had two great visits to Oklahoma and Butler, and have had a chance to get better and work out with my buddies.”

The most recent of the two trips for Brunk was to Butler.

“I had a good time,” said Brunk of the visit. “We went out to dinner on Tuesday night, then I hung out with the guys. I got to play in open gym on Wednesday, and then we did some bowling. It was just a lot of fun. I hung out with the guys and just had a real good time.”

He continued about Butler, “I’ve built a really good relationship with Coach (Chris) Holtmann. He was the one recruiting me when he was an assistant, so it kind of worked out well. He has been in charge of my recruitment the whole time even as the head coach.”

The trip to Oklahoma was also a good one for Brunk. The 6-foot-10 Brunk said he enjoyed his team and got to really know Lon Kruger and his staff.

“I had a good time when I went out there,” said Brunk. “I got to spend some good time with Coach Kruger and the players. I also played in open gym with them, and it was a real good time.”

At this point Brunk says that no other visits are set up. That said his high school team is tripping to Purdue and Xavier for team camps, so he will be on at least those campuses during the month of June as well.

When it comes to the rest of his recruitment, Brunk said, “We haven’t planned it a whole lot. We are just going with it as it happens. I am not going to rush into a decision, I’m just going to play it out. Whatever happens, happens. My main priority right now is getting better every day. The recruitment isn’t my top priority, my top priority is getting better.”
