UMass lands McLean

UMass landed a strong commitment on Tuesday from the highly athletic Unique McLean.

Three-star combo guard Unique McLean is someone with a ton of natural ability. He had some great moments during the high school year at Granby (Mass.) MacDuffie School, and again has showed off his potential during AAU season playing with the PSA Cardinals in the EYBL.

At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, McLean is a physical and athletic guard who can handle either guard spot. He might be better in the role of secondary ball handler, but his athleticism and size give him the ability to be a premier defender and very difficult to stop when attacking the rim.

On Tuesday McLean decided to end his recruitment as he picked Massachusetts. He chose the Minutemen over schools like Iona, St. Louis, and a host of others.

About UMass, McLean said, “When I went on the visit Coach Kellogg and Coach Allison made me feel right at home, and I think the Atlantic 10 is the perfect conference for me.”

This is a commitment that should get the Minutemen going in the class of 2016 as not many guards will be headed to the Atlantic 10 with his combination of size and athleticism.
