Four recruiting Preston hardest

Which four programs are recruiting Billy Preston the hardest? The five-star power forward gives the latest in his recruitment.

One of the top power forwards nationally in 2017 comes from Dallas Prime Prep in 6-foot-9, 220-pound Billy Preston.

Scout’s 15th ranked prospect and 3rd rated power forward in the class, Preston is an athletic four man who can face up and hit jumpers or use his impressive vision to make his teammates better.

“My game is coming along good,” Preston said. “I feel like every work out I have, every time I get in the gym, I feel better. It’s just repetition. As hard as I’m working, as much time as I work out, I have no choice but to get better.”

There is one area of Preston’s game that he feels he’s especially improving at.

“My motor,” he said. “I’m going harder and I’m not taking any plays off.”

The five-star prospect said four schools are recruiting him the hardest and he quickly broke them all down.

UCLA, Arizona, Kansas and UConn are probably showing the most interest,” Preston said.

UCLA: “I know a lot about them since I just moved from Texas to Cali. That was my hometown school, UCLA and USC. I know a lot about them.”

UConn: “I know a lot about UConn. Coach Kevin Ollie came to my practices at my last school. I know a lot about them.”

Arizona: “I haven’t been to Arizona yet but coach Book (Richardson) came to a couple of my practices. I’ve talked to him a little and know a little about the program.”

Kansas: “I took an unofficial visit there and I talk to coach Bill Self and the assistants. I know a lot about Kansas.”

Preston is more worried about his game than recruitment right now but does have a feel for whether or not location – he moved from Los Angeles to Dallas during his sophomore season - will play a role in where he ultimately goes.

“I haven’t even thought about it that much lately; I’m open,” he said about a timetable regarding his ultimate decision.

“I’m willing to go anywhere. It’s what’s best for me. If it’s in SoCal then I’ll go back and if it’s somewhere else then I’ll go anywhere.”
