2017 Intro: Jemarl Baker

Jemarl Baker is an emerging 2017 prospect from SoCal. Here's an intro to the shooting guard's game and recruitment.

Over the last several months, Jemarl Baker has shown a lot of progress in his game and it’s led to two early scholarship offers.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound 2017 shooting guard from Corona (Calif.) Roosevelt has a nice weapon in his ability to shoot off the catch, but he’s also a good passer who has the physical tools to ultimately be a good defender.

“I shoot really well and I can get to the rim when I want to,” Baker said. “I need to get better defensively and do a better job getting my teammates involved.”

Baker recently landed scholarship offers from USC and Oklahoma State, with Providence showing interest. He broke down his two offers.

USC: “I like it because it’s local; all my family would be able to come to the games. I like the tradition.”

Oklahoma State: “I like them because Marcus Smart went there; they’ve had some good players.”

There’s no timetable on Baker’s recruitment, but he has a couple areas he’ll be looking for in a school.

“I’ll decide when the time is right,” Baker said. “I want a great education and coaching staff. “
