Kane Returns To U.S.; Likes Six

Aliou Kane recently returned from Mauritania, his home country, and is now at Dyke (VA) Blue Ridge Academy for his final prep season. Travis Edwards, his legal guardian and assistant with Team Texas, says he's essentially considering six schools.

Kane Looking At Six

Aliou Kane, a muscular specimen who played a key role in Team Texas two major tournament championships this summer, is being recruited heavily by six programs.

According to his legal guard, Travis Edwards, Minnesota, Southern Methodist, Wake Forest, Charlotte, Iowa and possibly Alabama are in the mix. "I really think it boils down to those guys and possibly Alabama," Edwards said.

"I think a lot of the bigger colleges are starting to run into trouble with post players they were trying to get and tried to get in [with Kane]," Edwards said. "I think he's going to have a chance to go in and play. I don't know how much at first. But, that's not the precursor of course. Can they develop him and how will he be in two years?"

Kane has visits set up with Minnesota (Sept. 14) and Southern Methodist (Sept. 21). The Mustangs are also heavily involved with Kane's AAU teammates, PG Bryan Hopkins, who visited Texas last weekend.
