Chandler breaks out at Elite 100

Jay Jay Chandler showed significant ability at the Nike Elite 100, and he has a pair of visits upcoming.

Every year at the Nike Elite 100 event kids really emerge onto the scene with strong play, and this year one of those was point guard Jay Jay Chandler. The 6-foot-2 Chandler showed his entire skill set, and now is sure to have coaches tracking his every move in July.

“I think I took my game to another level this spring,” said Chandler. “I have been working hard every day and working with John Lucas, so it has been a good spring.”

He continued, “My jump shooting has definitely improved. Also I have been focused on my footwork and just always being ready with my feet.”

Recruiting wise, Chandler has a pair of others with several others schools showing significant interest.

“I have offers from Tulsa and Houston,” said Chandler. “I went on a visit to Baylor last week, and I am going to visit Texas A&M and Oklahoma this upcoming week.”

About his visit to Baylor, Chandler said, “The Baylor visit was very good. I was able to scrimmage with the players, and the coaches and players are real cool. The campus is nice. I plan to go up there in the fall for another visit.”

Upcoming is Texas A&M, and Chandler is intrigued by the school and wants to see how everything is in College Station.

“I am hoping to see a good coaching staff and get to meet the players,” said Chandler of A&M. “Also I want to see the campus and just how I would fit in.”

About his upcoming Oklahoma trip, Chandler said, “Oklahoma visited me during the school year, and went to some of my high school games. I just want to see how the coaches are and how I mesh with the players already on the team.”

While there is no timetable for a decision from Chandler, he does know what he will be looking for in a program.

“I am just looking for a coaching staff that helps players get better and will help me develop for the future,” noted Chandler.
