Mitchell is having huge spring

Davion Mitchell has been one of the breakout players this spring in the 2017 class.

Combo guard Davion Mitchell has had a huge spring running with the Georgia Stars. The powerful and athletic 6-foot-1 and 185 pounder has made a big impression and he continues to improve his game.

“I think I am playing well,” said Mitchell. “I have been working hard on my shooting and getting my teammates involved. Also I have been paying close attention to defense.”

Recruiting wise things have really picked up recently for Mitchell and numerous schools are beginning to show serious interest.

“I am hearing from LSU, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Arkansas, Ohio State, Auburn, Florida State, Kansas State, George Mason, and a few other schools,” said Mitchell.

So far Mitchell hasn’t made any college visits, but he says that will be changing very shortly.

“On June 19 I am going to be going to Auburn,” said Mitchell. “It will be my first visit. I don’t know a ton about Auburn, but I am looking forward to it and I can’t wait to meet the coaches and see everything.”

For Mitchell all the new interest and attention has been exciting.

“It is good to have all of these schools talking to me,” said Mitchell. “Where I live is a small town, so it is hard to get recognized, so to get recognized like this is real nice.”

For now Mitchell is keeping things level headed and is in no rush to make a decision. He does however know what factors will be important to him when it comes time to select a school.

“I am just trying to find a school that is like a family and also a place that fits how I play,” said Mitchell.
