Nike Elite 100: Jordan Poole

Combo guard Jordan Poole definitely opened up eyes at the Nike Elite 100.

One of the surprise standouts from the Nike Elite 100 was combo guard Jordan Poole. The Milwaukee (Wisc.) King standout showed an impressive shooting stroke while also being able to get to the rim and create some for others. Now Poole is seeing his attention increase from college coaches.

“I think I am doing good this spring,” said Poole. “We have gotten better throughout the year as a team, so the spring has gone well.”

In terms of his own game, Poole is focused on being more complete as a player.

“I am focusing on getting everybody else involved and making sure my big guy gets post touches,” explained Poole. “Also I am trying to put a lot more focus on my defense.”

When it comes to recruiting, Poole has many schools really showing him attention.

“I have offers from Illinois-Chicago, Drake, and Milwaukee,” said Poole. “I have been talking to Wisconsin, Marquette, Auburn, Iowa, and Connecticut.”

So far neither Wisconsin nor Marquette has stepped forward with an offer, but both are staying in close contact, and each school is making it known that they like Poole a lot.

“It is an honor to hear from Wisconsin,” said Poole of the Badgers. “Obviously they have had a good run the last few years, and it is great to have them put so much effort into recruiting me.”

About Marquette, he said, “I know a lot of people who go to Marquette. My older brother goes there, and I think the coaches do a good job of getting to know the players, and that it would be a good experience.”

At this point Poole is moving along slowly with the process, but he does know what factors he is going to pay close attention to with the schools showing him interest.

“I want to get a good education first and foremost,” said Poole. “Also I want a place that gets up and down the floor and fits my style of game.”
