NBPA Top 100: Zach Brown

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Recruiting is picking up for 2017 center Zach Brown, as Scout's 4th ranked prospect in the class just added a big offer on Thursday.

One of the better center prospects in the 2017 class is 7-foot-1, 230-pound Miami Beach’s Zach Brown.

After arriving on the scene a little over a year ago, Brown has picked up plenty of attention, with schools such as North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Miami and UCLA all seriously recruiting him.

On Thursday, Brown picked up an offer from Kentucky.

“My dad just told me,” Brown said Thursday night from the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville.

“I was really excited. That was a dream college for me when I was younger. I don’t know too much about them; I haven’t really gotten into it too much with them.”

Even though Brown isn’t too familiar with the current UK program, he did pay close attention to the Wildcats as a kid.

“I liked the way they treated their bigs and the way they built their system around their bigs when I was younger,” he said.

Another school that Brown says he was a fan of as a kid – and that continues to recruit him - is UCLA.

“I really love their program,” said Brown of the Bruins. “I just love the city, the way they play and how they set up with their bigs.

“They’re very involved with their bigs and also they have a great academic system. I had an unofficial visit there a couple months back and it was a nice campus.”

Local Miami is another school on Brown’s list.

“Miami is on me hard,” he said. “I have family down in Miami. They’re in my top five.”

Brown says that his father has been handling his recruitment and that he’s more worried with academics right now.

“I’ve just been chilling and worrying about high school and finishing high school off,” he said.
