A&M lands key pledge

Texas A&M landed a key four-star commitment on Saturday afternoon

Robert Williams verbally committed to Texas A&M on Saturday during an unofficial visit to campus.

Williams, a four-star prospect, informed Scout of the news.

"It's a perfect fit for me," Williams told Scout. "I can come in and play, plus it's close to my dad so he can come see me play."

Williams' father lives just over an hour away from College Station. He also strongly considered Baylor.

This is Williams' second trip to Texas A&M this month. Williams, a native of Louisiana, said the family atmosphere stuck out about both trips.

"It's a family around here," Williams said minutes after his pledge. "The players are close. The players all reached to me and wanted to hang out when I was on campus. I feel like it's what I need most and I feel like I have it if I came here."

Williams said his relationship with Texas A&M coach Billy Kennedy was "strong" and said the way Kyle Keller recruited him was "perfect."

On the court, Williams emerged his spring playing with the Houston Hoops. He impacted games with his athleticism and mobility and was recently elevated to No. 76 in the 2016 top 100.

Williams is Texas A&M's second pledge in 2016. He joins top 100 guard J.J. Caldwell to make up their current recruiting class.
