Walker picks the Noles

Florida State landed a key target on Saturday evening in C.J. Walker.

After one commitment didn’t work, C.J. Walker did his research and following an official visit to Tallahassee he decided to pull the trigger and pick the Florida State Seminoles. This is a quality four-star pledge of a kid who has seen his stock go up in the past year.

“After making the visit and meeting the coaches and the players I just felt that Florida State was right for me,” said Walker. “I just felt that I fit in, in the city and with the staff, and everything about the visit went well so I knew it was the right place.”

Things moved quickly for Walker and Florida State following his de-commitment from Purdue. Along with the Seminoles schools like Butler, Xavier, Illinois, Missouri, Wichita State, and a host of others offered, but it was the early work the Seminoles did that made the difference.

“They came for a home visit and that was a really big deal,” Walker explained. “No other school did that, and they kept in touch not only with me but with my mom, my dad, and even my little brother. I just felt a close connection to the staff from the beginning and I think they are the right people to help me take the next step.”

The 5-foot-11 Walker says that the visit cemented that he would have a chance to come in right away and play.

“After talking with the staff I feel I can come in and compete for big minutes right away,” said Walker. “My ability to score the ball and run a team is something that they have been looking for and there is an opportunity for me to come in.”

This is a big commitment for the Seminoles who needed a point guard in the class. Walker was one of their top priorities and to lock him up before July was big.
