Murray commits to Kentucky

Jamal Murray opted for the Kentucky Wildcats on Wednesday, selecting the SEC school over Oregon.

After much anticipation for his college announcement, Jamal Murray ended his recruitment on Wednesday by committing to John Calipari and Kentucky.

The 6-foot-4 combination guard out of Orangeville (Canada) Prep picked the Wildcats over serious interest from Oregon. Murray took official visits to both schools.

Murray also announced that he would reclassify from the class of 2016 to 2015. With the move Murray has been slotted as the No. 2 point guard and the No. 12 overall prospect in the class.

Kentucky now has a five-man recruiting class that also consists of Scout's No. 1 player Skal Labissiere, five-star guard Isaiah Briscoe, four-star prospect Charles Matthews and JUCO standout Mychal Mulder..

The Murray commitment bumps Kentucky up to No. 2 in Scout's 2015 recruiting class rankings. The Wildcats recruiting class only sits behind Duke.

Murray had a strong showing in the prestigious Nike Hoop Summit game in Portland in early April. Murray scored a game high 30 points and led the World Team to a win.
