Fultz talks visit process

Five-star Markelle Fultz is ready to play out July and then make official visits.

Five-star shooting guard Markelle Fultz has been one of the fastest rising prospects in the class over the past 12 months. Fultz went from virtual unknown to potential McDonald’s All-American, and now he is in the process of narrowing down his school list.

With offers from schools such as Louisville, Arizona, Kansas, Xavier, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Maryland, Georgetown, Miami, Washington, and others, Fultz has become one of the most coveted players in the country.

“I want to just really look into all the schools that I really like and see the difference between the schools that I like, and then hopefully I can make a decision in August or September,” said Fultz.

The most recent visit for Fultz was to Virginia Tech. It was his first trip to Blacksburg, and Fultz was impressed with what he saw.

“It was a good visit,” said Fultz. “I had a good experience with Coach Buzz (Williams), and it was good to see how he coaches and everything like that.”

Fultz had planned to make his first official visit to Arizona in June, but that got postponed. Now he is looking forward to getting to Tucson in August.

“I like Arizona a lot,” said Fultz. “Coach Book (Richardson) and Coach (Sean) Miller are great coaches. I didn’t get to go out there in June, but I want to take an official visit there and see the campus and get to know the players.”

Another school that Fultz plans to visit is Ohio State. The Buckeyes have made a strong push recently, and Fultz would like to get to Columbus to check things out.

“I really like Ohio State,” noted Fultz. “I think I could be like D'Angelo Russell. I want to make a visit there whether it is official or unofficial, I feel like that is a school I need to see.”

The school Fultz has seen the most is Xavier, and the Musketeers remain in close contact with Fultz.

“It is a great experience with them,” said Fultz of the Musketeers. “I have been there a few times. I really like Coach (Chris) Mack and Coach (Mike) Pegues, so that has been real good.”

Fultz says at this point it is a matter of him visiting schools and doing research on all of his options before coming to a decision following the July evaluation period.
