Davis to Cal

Roman Davis accepted a scholarship offer from California on Wednesday. The 2015 small forward discusses his commitment.

California likely finalized its 2015 recruiting class on Wednesday, picking up a commitment from 6-foot-6, 165-pound small forward Roman Davis.

The Golden Bears just started recruiting Davis, who is fresh off a visit to the Berkeley campus.

"A couple weeks ago, coach Yanni (Hufnagel) called and said there were some things happening and that a spot was going to open up," Davis said. "He wanted me to come up and work out for them.

"I went up there two days ago and worked out yesterday. The coaches said they really liked me and offered me a scholarship. I took it."

For Davis, there were several reasons for accepting the scholarship offer.

"They have good athletics and academics and it's in the Pac-12 so it's a good conference," he said. "Cal is a great school. I've been in touch with coach Yanni since I was in 9th grade; he went from Harvard to Vanderbilt to Cal."

The Los Angeles Windward product is a long and athletic forward who will likely be able to play the three and four at the next level.

"I bring hard work, heart, defensive ability, offensive scoring ability, rebounding and an edge to the team," Davis said.

Davis joins Jaylen Brown, Ivan Rabb, Tyson Jolly and Davon Dillard in the Golden Bears' 2015 recruiting class.
