In the end, everything came full circle. Jonathan Isaac, a 6-9 forward who slots at No. 9 in the Class of 2016, committed to the school that led initially and then appeared to fade.
Florida State, which appeared to hold a big advantage last fall, watched as Isaac blew up this past spring and ended up with a list of 12 finalists that, along with FSU, also included Texas, Miami, Kentucky, Michigan, LSU, Wisconsin, Auburn, California, Stanford, Wake Forest and Virginia.
But the Seminoles hung in even while Isaac vaulted from the outer reaches of the top 50 all the way into the top 10.
”I want to do something special with a group of people that I think are special,” Isaac told Scout. "I talked to Coach (Dennis) Gates the most and Coach Ham a lot, we had a phone convo and I told them I was coming."
