Northwestern adds another quality pledge
The Northwestern Wildcats have been working to really fortify their lineup, and become a factor in recruiting local talent. Chris Collins and his staff accomplished both of those things on Monday night when Barret Benson picked the program. Playing with the Illinois Wolves over the summer, Benson attracted significant recruiting attention. Schools such as Illinois, Purdue, Georgetown, and Stanford all at different points in time really made Benson a priority. In the end though Northwestern was pushing as hard as anybody, and that led to him making a commitment. "I have decided to continue my education and basketball career at Northwestern University," announced Benson. The 6-foot-9 Benson has good hands, a nice touch on the low block, and is a big body who can carve out space in the post. He has improved his body over the years as well, and is someone who projects to be a solid contributor for Northwestern. This is the third commitment for Northwestern in the 2016 class. He joins four-star Rapolas Ivanauskas and three-star point guard Isiah Brown in the Wildcats class.
