Double Pump: Alec Hickman
The first game of the first night of the first week of the July Evaluation Period was used as a coming out party for one of the West Coast's breakout players of the summer. Alec Hickman, a 6-foot-4, 170-pound 2017 combo guard from San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) JSerra, had a terrific opening night performance at the Double Pump Summer Tip Off playing for Team Eleate. Hickman can play on and off the ball due to his ball skills, vision and scoring ability. As a scorer, he hit several pull-up jumpers and floaters from midrange, while also knocking down multiple threes off the catch. As a point guard, Hickman took care of the ball and made several impressive passes to teammates, playing unselfish basketball. The rising junior defended multiple positions, rebounded and blocked shots. Still pretty physically immature, look for Hickman's game to only improve as he gains strength, which he has room to gain plenty of. Rice, UC Irvine, Wichita State, Gonzaga, Washington State, UC Riverside and Vanderbilt are the schools which are showing Hickman early interest. Hickman doesn't have any offers yet, but expect that to change quickly.
