adidas Uprising: Jarrett Allen

SUWANEE, Ga. -- Five-star post prospect Jarrett Allen played well in a match up with Indiana Elite on Thursday.

College coaches were buzzing about Jarrett Allen in the spring, following strong showings with Marland Lowe’s Texas Pro team. Two months later, it’s much of the same, as Allen, a 6-foot-10 post player, was nothing short of dominant at the adidas Uprising Gauntlet Finale on Thursday.

One college coach even texted, “Jarrett might be the best big in this class.” And the coach makes a good point. Currently the only big men ranked ahead of him are Thon Maker and Marques Bolden and with Allen’s play, a case could be made for him to move up.

At his size, Allen has very good length and although he’s still thin at this stage, he as the type of frame that will add weight once he’s in a college weight room. Offensively, he’s quite gifted. He’s equipped with terrific hands and great touch around the goal. His go-to move is a right jump hook over his left shoulder, but he’s also capable of making mid-range jump shots. Defensively, he uses his length and athleticism to contest shots and reel in boards. He’s an elite post prospect in the 2016 class.

Among the schools currently involved in Allen’s recruitment are Baylor, Texas, Kansas State, San Diego State, Kansas, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Indiana, North Carolina Florida, UCLA, Oregon and Houston.
