Overall in the game Simpson finished with 20 points and 7 assists, and that was aided by an impressive 3-7 from three point range. What makes Simpson so impressive is that he has a combination of toughness and savvy at the point guard spot. He did everything asked of him to help his team win, and when the chips all are at the center of the table that is when he is at his best. Quite simply in crunch time there aren’t many players you want more than Simpson on your team. Watching Simpson was Xavier boss Chris Mack, Illinois’ John Groce, Iowa’s Fran McCaffery, Purdue’s Matt Painter, and Iowa State’s Steve Prohm. Simpson is at the center of a heated recruiting battle right now, and he is someone the Midwest has really heated up with interest.
