Peach Jam: Darius Garland

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. -- Darius Garland, a talented guard out of Brentwood (Tenn.), went for 18 points in a tough loss to the Georgia Stars in the semi-finals of the Sweet 16 division at Peach Jam.

Every time I’ve evaluated Darius Garland, a 6-foot-2 point guard out of Nashville, Tenn., he’s looked a little bit better and that was certainly the case on Saturday night during the semi-finals of the Sweet 16 division at the Peach Jam.

Garland plays with a great pace and changes his speeds very well. He has a terrific blend of scoring and facilitating for We All Can Go, who also utilizes point guard Tyger Campbell on the ball at times as well.

Garland is quick and shifty off the bounce. He has a strong handle, can get by defenders and into the paint and has developed a consistent floater in the lane. Garland is also a tremendous three-point threat with deep range on his jump shot. Against the Georgia Stars on Saturday, Garland was 4-or-8 from three and showed good range on shot.

Garland already has scholarship offers from Memphis and Vanderbilt, plus interest from Florida, Michigan and Louisville.
