Edwards talks official visit

Carsen Edwards made a recent official visit, and plans to make more trips after July.

Someone who has seen his recruitment pick up in a big way this spring and summer has been Carsen Edwards. The highly athletic combo guard has had a solid run with Houston Hoops, and is beginning to make his official visits.

“This summer I have been playing well, but I know there are things I need to work on,” said Edwards of his play. “I know I need to be more efficient and just run my team better. I am also focused on giving 100 percent the whole game.”

Recently Edwards made an official visit to Purdue, and he liked what he saw at the Big Ten school.

“It was a great experience,” said Edwards of the visit. “Purdue is a very nice school. They have great athletic facilities and great academics so I really enjoyed it.”

He continued about the trip, “They are telling me I can come in and really have an opportunity to play. They need guards on their roster so there is an opportunity there and also I know I would be on a team with great players like Caleb Swanigan.”

Purdue was his first trip, and it set the bar high, Edwards says he will make other trips.

Kansas State, SMU, and Vanderbilt are the other schools I know I want to visit,” said Edwards.

About Kansas State, Edwards said, “I like the way that they play. I know they are trying to get up and down more, so I am really interested in them because that fits my style.”

SMU isn’t too far from Edwards’ home, and he likes a lot about the program. “Larry Brown, he is the head coach and it is a great opportunity for me. Also I like the way they have used Nic Moore, so I like them a lot.”

When it comes to Vanderbilt, Edwards said, “I know I could have an opportunity to come in and compete. Also they have good players and Kevin Stallings is a great coach”

Edwards says he is in no hurry to make a commitment and wants to get as much information as possible about every school on his list.
