Elite 100: K.J. Hymes

CLAREMONT, Calif. - K.J. Hymes is an emerging 2018 prospect who already has a couple scholarship offers. He showed why at the Elite 100.

One of this week's breakout players comes from Phoenix St. Mary's in 2018 center K.J. Hymes.

At the Elite 100, the 6-foot-9, 185-pound post showed that he has a very good frame with long arms, is an above average athlete for the position, plays hard, can score around the basket and can hit jumpers from midrange and three.

"I'm able to handle and shoot the ball," Hymes said. "I have good footwork in the post and I can rebound. I'm working on improving everything."

Clemson and Grand Canyon are the first two offers for Hymes, who is still learning about the ACC program.

"I went to Philly and they saw me play one time and offered on the spot. I know they're orange and their mascot is the Tigers," Hymes laughed.

Hymes said he grew up watching Arizona, UCLA and Virginia and has an idea of what he'll be looking for in a school.

"I want a good coaching staff and a place where I can go and make a difference," Hymes said.
