Carter shows his elite potential

Five-star Wendell Carter was very impressive at the Peach Jam

One of the truly elite players in the class of 2017 is Wendell Carter. Running with the Georgia Stars, Carter really stood out at the Peach Jam and more than justified his No. 2 overall ranking in the class.

At around 6-foot-10 with long arms, a nice scoring touch, and a very impressive ability to rebound the ball, Carter has attracted a lot of attention on the recruiting trail.

“I have offers from Duke, Kentucky, Georgia, Kansas, Florida, Florida State, Alabama, and Auburn,” noted Carter.

Duke was a consistent presence at his games, and Carter says it was big to get an offer from the Blue Devils.

“It meant a lot to get an offer from them,” said Carter of Duke. “They get players ready for the NBA and they win no matter what. They sent a lot of guys to league, and I like them.”

Another offer that was big for Carter was Kentucky. The Wildcats offered after the spring, and Carter likes the program.

“They are telling me that they really want me,” noted Carter. “I haven’t talked to them recently, but my parents talked to them when they offered so that was good.”

Also the Kansas Jayhawks are making it clear to Carter that he is a priority on the recruiting trail.

“They have reached out,” said Carter of Kansas. “I talked to Coach (Norm) Roberts a lot. I think they have a good program that develops bigs.”

At this point Carter doesn’t appear close to a college decision. He says he wants to focus on academics as well as finding a school that uses a system that fits him as a player.
