Lawson/Oladipo: Jagan Mosely

HYATTSVILLE, Md. — Angular, broad-shouldered guard Jagan Mosely raised eyebrows on Wednesday evening. The 6-3, long-armed New Jersey product established himself as one of the most athletic players in the building.

Albeit not one of the more touted guys entering camp, tonight Jagan Mosely stepped forward as one of the best rising seniors in attendance. He looks like an athlete and lives up to the appearance, speedily racing the court with long strides and exploding for slams.

But he’s also deceptively nuanced. Mosely whips passes cleverly through the paint and, while sometimes his decision-making is suspect, he delivers dunks and layups to his teammates in addition to calling his own number.

Additionally, he utilizes a jump stop effectively and has the first step to regularly create for himself in the halfcourt. Some athletic finishers are uptempo-only, but Mosely appears adaptible for the greater structure of college. Still, though, getting into the fullcourt is what he loves to do most.

”I like getting in the open court and making decisions for my teammates and myself,” Mosely said. “I can play the two or the one, it doesn’t really matter to me.”

His recruitment also is humming along and has become amplified this month:

”The most interested schools I would say are Xavier, SMU, BU (Boston University), Georgia Tech, Harvard and Temple,” Mosely said. “All of those have offered. My most recent ones are Xavier, SMU, Pitt and some more.”

A strong student, Mosely added that he has a 4.2 GPA. He intends to set up his official visits for August and hopes to pick a winner in time for his senior season.
