UA Finals: Kris Wilkes

SUWANEE, Ga. -- 2017 wing Kris Wilkes went for 27 points and 15 rebounds in a semi-finals win over Earl Watson Elite at the Suwanee Sports Academy complex on Friday.

With majority of the top tier schools in the Midwest and other high major programs looking on at the Under Armour Association Finals, Kris Wilkes showed why he’s such a hot commodity.

Wilkes, who has great size at 6-foot-7, has a notable scoring package. Obviously his size stood out for a perimeter prospect, but so did his ball skills and ability to score from mid-range and in. Wilkes aggressively hunted shots, especially during the second half, where he was able to connect on a trio of pull-ups from 10 to 15-feet.

While his mid-range was impressive, Wilkes’ arsenal consists of much more.

Wilkes played with toughness and grit around the basket and actively looked for opportunities to post up small defenders. He showed great touch around the rim and despite lacking strength, didn’t mind physical play.

The five-star prospect out of Indianapolis (Ind.) North Central also made plays in transition, competed on defense and rebounded in and out of his area. Wilkes finished with 27 points on 11-for-16 shooting and also reeled in 15 rebounds.

So far Wilkes has taken unofficial visits to Butler, Illiniois, Indiana, Kentucky, Purdue, Vanderbilt and Xavier. He’s also getting strong interest from Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and a host of others.
