GASO: Clevon Brown emerges

DUNCANVILLE, Tex. -- Clevon Brown, a 6-foot-7 power forward out of Texas, emerged at the Great American Shootout over the weekend. What stands out about his game? Which schools are now involved? Who has offered?

One of the players that broke out at the Great American Shootout this past weekend was 6-foot-7 power forward Clevon Brown.

Playing for SABO Gold, Brown impressed with his athletic ability. Brown is quick off his feet, runs the floor with ease and is a threat to slam back misses or throw down powerful dunks in transition. At his size, he has very good length, which helps him contest shots and reel in rebounds. Offensively he flashed a right jump hook, displayed good hands and nice touch around the basket.

During the second July evaluation period, Brown drew a wide range of college coaches at his game. Auburn, Georgia Tech, Illinois and Vanderbilt were among the schools that tracked him during the period and have now offered. He also has offers from SMU, Kansas State, Rice, Tulsa, UTEP and UTSA.

Oklahoma State, Texas, Kansas State and Wichita State have also put in calls to Brown, a standout at San Antonio (Tex.) Churchill. The only school Brown has visited to date is Rice. He’s visiting unofficially a couple of times.
