Las Vegas: Dennis Smith
In a match up with five-star guard Lonzo Ball, highly touted lead guard Dennis Smith had a strong, efficient game. Smith scored 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting. Where he particularly excelled in the game against the Big Ballers was in transition. The 6-foot-2 guard is fast, athletic and has tremendous body control. He sliced his way to the rim, played well through contact and showed he could adjusts his shots well at the rim. To go with his efficient scoring outing, Smith competed on the opposite end of the floor. He has a lot of potential as an on the ball defender and has good instincts. Smith also showed off his vision and passing and tossed out eight assists in the win. Smith, who recently cut his list of schools to six, drew Mark Gottfried, John Calipari, Danny Manning and assistants from Louisville and North Carolina at his opening round game.
