Las Vegas: Darius Perry

LAS VEGAS -- Playing for the Game Elite 16's in the adidas Uprising Summer Championship, Darius Perry proved himself as a high major lead guard.

Game Elite has had their fair share of talent over the years. Most recently California freshman-to-be Jaylen Brown starred with Game Elite on the adidas circuit the past couple of years.

And the Game Elite program always seems to have an up and comer. This year the guy that fits that billing is 2017 lead guard Darius Perry.

When I watched him on Saturday, Perry displayed his speed, toughness and ability to create off the dribble for himself and others. Perry has a wiry frame and although he appears quite thin, he’s strong driver. Perry has a tricky handle and changes his speeds well.

Although he didn’t hit a bunch of jumpers in the game I watched, he’s certainly confident in his shot making from both mid-range and three. And he did make the shot that mattered the most on Saturday, as he buried a pull-up three-pointer at the buzzer to knock off an opponent at the beginning of bracket play.

Perry currently has scholarship offers from Kansas State, Xavier, Minnesota, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Texas A&M, Winthrop and Florida State.
