Four-star Mamadi Diakite close to decision

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. - One of the top athletes at adidas Nations, Mamadi Diakite says he's close to making a decision.

Mamadi Diakite is getting close to announcing his college decision.

The 6-foot-9, 190-pound 2016 post from Dyke (Va.) Blue Ridge School told Scout on Sunday at adidas Nations that he's almost ready to announce where he'll be attending college.

"I'm really close," Diakite said. "I'm really, really close. It might happen soon. I'm talking to my parents about it.

"They're almost giving me the green light to do it. As soon as they tell me I can I'm going to."

Diakite, who is choosing between Virginia, USC and Washington, is non-committal about when or where, but it's possible he makes a commitment while at adidas Nations.

"I might do it here," he said. "I might do it (Monday). I might do it on TV or I might not."

Scout's 45th ranked prospect in his class, Diakite has one big reason for why he feels comfortable with his future college.

"Family," Diakite said. "When I say family I mean I want people there for me when things aren't going my way. That's the base of my decision."
