First visit a success for Markelle Fultz

Louisville got the first official visit from Markelle Fultz, and the Cardinals made the most of their opportunity.

Five-star guard Markelle Fultz now has one visit in the books. The 6-foot-4 combo guard made his mid-week trip to Louisville, and he came away very impressed with the ACC program.

“He had an excellent visit,” said Fultz trainer Keith Williams.

Williams continued, “Markelle got to see the team practice, and get a feel for how he would fit in with the program. Also he talked to the coaches and just really liked what he saw.”

One thing that really stood out to Fultz was the closeness of the team, and how they treated him.

“I am going to be honest,” said Williams. “Kenny (Johnson) and (Rick) Pitino didn’t have to do much work. It was the players that did all the recruiting, and that is something that Markelle liked a lot.”

The next step for Fultz is the Big Strick Classic in New York. From there a pair of Pac 12 schools will get official visits.

“On Monday Markelle will go to Arizona,” said Williams. “After that he will go to Washington for another official visit.”

Williams stressed that no commitment will happen on a visit, and that Fultz and his mother are dedicated to going through the recruiting process and seeing the options that they have before making a decision.
