Ball State Rounds Out Class

Tom Howland, a 6-10, 240 pound center/power forward from Normal (IL) West committed to Ball State on Wednesday.

"I just liked the players and the coach and everything about it really," Howland said. The big man feels like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders and is relieved that he doesn't have to field recruiting calls anymore.

Howland said Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Evansville, Western Illinois, Eastern Illinois and Southern Illinois were among the interested parties. Last year, he averaged 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks.

Ball State's three-man class includes two bigs and a guard. Kevin Cates and Howland are the bigs and they join guard Kyle Cox. "I think I'll fit in really well because they really don't have a big man and hopefully I'll be able to come in and play."
