Bowman Picks The Hoyas
All during his recruitment, Los Angeles (CA) Westchester swingman Brandon Bowman said he had no qualms about heading to the east coast to play college basketball. On Thursday, he stayed true to his word and made a commitment.
According to his father, Bowman opted to commit to Craig Esherick's Georgetown Hoyas. "We went on a road trip back east and did an unofficial there. I think it's a good choice. He feels good about it," Tom Bowman said.
The elder Bowman also said that Maryland, Virginia, New Mexico and Tennessee were on him hard. Of course Virginia just used its final scholarship on Derrick Byars, which took them out of the running.
"He got to see the campus and he just had a good feeling about Georgetown," Tom Bowman said. "It's pretty hard to explain but when you get a good feeling about a thing you can't ignore it. The academic part of it played a major role in it."
In Bowman the Hoyas have one of the better developing prospects in the country. Last year, the 6-8 small forward was the sixth man on the Westchester team. This year, his role is guaranteed to expand and you can expect him to move higher up the Top 100 lists as the season progresses. He's a fine shooter, long athlete and loaded with upside. The future is bright for Bowman and he's got all the confidence in the world coming off a strong performance at Nike Camp.
