Eli Wright commits to Mississippi State

Eli Wright joins Ben Howland's 2016 recruiting class.

Eli Wright has verbally committed to Ben Howland and Mississippi State, he tells Scout.

"I got a gut feeling," Wright told Scout just minutes after committing during his official visit. "Everything is right. I felt at home. The coaches are into it."

Wright, a 6-foot-4 guard out of Owensboro (Ky.), picked MSU over Florida and Connecticut.

"Coach Howland has been great through out the whole process," Wright added.

To go with coach Howland, Mississippi State had a secret weapon already on their campus. Wright's best friend -- Aric Holman -- will be a freshman at Mississippi State this coming season.

"Aric and I have been wanting to go to school together since we were little," Wright said. "Getting to go to school with my best friend is a great opportunity, plus everything else is just perfect."

Wright, who will finish out his high school career at Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, also made sure to note that Mississippi State assistant coach Korey McCray played a big role in his decision to commit.

"He's a straight up dude," he said of McCray. "He keeps it real. I know I can trust him."

Wright is MSU's second commitment in 2016, as he joins four-star and top 100 point guard Lamar Peters to make up their current recruiting class.
