Washington was able to fend off Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, Arizona, Xavier, Miami, and a host of other suitors, and on the visit his relationship and trust sealed the deal for the Huskies. “I just had a great trust in them,” said Fultz. “The visit didn’t change anything, it strengthened everything and I just knew it was the right place for me.” This is a huge pickup for the Huskies and one that will clearly make them one of the most talented and complete teams in the Pac 12 for the next few seasons. Fultz has displayed one and done potential with his improved play this summer, and now he fills the missing piece for Washington as a productive and impressive point guard.
Trust led to decision for Markelle Fultz
At the end of the day a big part of recruiting is developing relationships and trust. That is exactly what proved to be the key for five-star guard Markelle Fultz. Fultz, who will find his way into the top 10 in the next rankings picked Washington primarily based on those two factors. “My relationship with Coach (Lorenzo) Romar was huge,” explained Fultz following his announcement. “That was really my No. 1 thing, just my relationship with Coach.”
