Notre Dame throws hat in ring for Maker

Although he's a well established name, Thon Maker continues to pick up new college interest. Notre Dame is now involved with his recruitment, according to his guardian.

Thon Maker, Scout’s No. 5 prospect in the 2016 recruiting class, is one of the most talked about prospects in all of high school basketball.

Recruiting wise, he’s had a wide range of interest, but for the most part – at least over the last few months -- Arizona State, Indiana and Kansas have been the schools most associated with the Orangeville (Canada) Prep standout.

But there are other schools make their way into the mix. UNLV offered Maker early in August and now Notre Dame has moved into the picture, Ed Smith, Maker’s guardian told Scout on Wednesday. Smith also said Notre and Arizona State are currently pushing for official visits.

“Notre Dame is looking to get one,” he said about an official. “I think Mike Brey and coach [Bobby] Hurley are going to do in-homes in early September.”

Smith said they haven’t finalized the in-home visit dates yet.

“We are just working on it,” he said. “We will figure it out once we get back to school.

Maker doesn't currently have any official or unofficial visit dates sets. Of the schools mentioned, he's taken an unofficial visit to Indiana.
