Four-star Kevin Huerter commits to Maryland

Maryland picked up their second top 100 commitment on Monday, as Kevin Huerter offered up a verbal commitment to Mark Turgeon.

Kevin Huerter, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, has verbally committed to Maryland, a source tells Scout.

Huerter took an official visit to Maryland this past weekend. Just prior he visited Villanova and also considered a host of other schools including Michigan, Notre Dame, Iowa, Indiana, Creighton and Davidson. He had scheduled visits to Michigan and Notre Dame.

Huerter, a four-star prospect out of Clifton Park (N.Y.) Shenendehowa, ranks No. 63 overall and No. 10 at the shooting guard position.

Maryland now has a pair of top 100 pledges in their 2016 class. Huerter joins Scout's No. 58 prospect Anthony Cowan to make up their current class.

Maryland assistant Dustin Clark was the lead man on the Huerter recruitment.
