Who is taking college visits this weekend? Scout breaks it down

Michigan State, Texas, Maryland and Ohio State are just a few of the schools that have huge weekend visitors. Who else is hosting prospects? Scout breaks it down.

  •  Michigan State’s top two targets will head to campus this weekend for official visits this weekend. Close friends and AAU teammates Miles Bridges, Scout’s No. 11 overall prospect, and Cassius Winston, who ranks No. 28, will both be on campus. Michigan State is in tough competition with Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina and Indiana for Bridges. Winson cut his list to MSU, Pittsburgh and Stanford earlier this week.
  • Shaka Smart and the Texas Longhorns will have a massive weekend with four-star power forward Javin DeLaurier and July’s breakout performer Andrew Jones on campus. DeLaurier’s visit is an official. He visited Notre Dame last week and also has trips set up to Duke and Stanford. Jones, who visited Arizona officially last week, will be on campus on Saturday for an unofficial trip.
  • Last year Ben Howland made a splash by reeling in top 10 player Malik Newman. Howland have continued to built on that momentum with a pair of four-star prospects – Lamar Peters and Eli Wright – in the 2016 class. This weekend they’ll welcome two more highly touted 2016 recruits – Schnider Herard and Tyson Carter – to campus. Both visits are officials. Top 100 2017 guard Nik Weatherspoon is also expected to be on campus.
  • The highest rated visitor of the weekend will be on Maryland’s campus. Wenyen Gabriel, Scout’s No. 10 ranked player, will kick off his official visits in College Park (Md.). Gabriel had in-home visits with his final five schools – Connecticut, Duke, Kentucky, Maryland and Providence – on Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Five-star senior point guard Kobi Simmons is slated to take his final scheduled official visit. He will be at Ohio State this weekend. Simmons, a Georgia native, previously visited Kentucky and UNLV.
  • Kevin Stallings and Vanderbilt have a key weekend coming up, as top 50 post player James Banks and four-star power forward Clevon Brown are scheduled to be on campus.
