Five of the top 12 players in the 2016 class will take weekend visits

While there have been a large number of top 100 prospects taking visits the past few weeks, this is the first weekend a significant amount of elite prospects will hit the road. Five of Scout's top 12 players in the 2016 class will take official visits.

Five of top 12 players hit the road

  • Danny Manning and Wake Forest will get the first crack at the nation's top recruit -- Harry Giles -- this weekend. The trip will be Giles' first official visit. He also has scheduled visits to Kansas, Kentucky and Duke. He was set to go to North Carolina next weekend, but he's in the process of rescheduling that visit.
  • The highest rated point guard in the 2016 class -- De'Aaron Fox -- will also take his first scheduled official visit. Fox will head to Baton Rouge to visit the LSU Tigers, who were able to secure Ben Simmons, who was one of the best recruits in the country, last year. Fox also has trips set up to Louisville, Kansas and Kentucky. LSU also will have Abdul Ado on campus for an official visit, plus Mitchell Robinson and Diop Reath for unofficial visits. 
  • Five-star guard Malik Monk, who has taken unofficial visits to Arkansas, Kansas and Kentucky, is scheduled to head across the country and visit Oregon this weekend. This will serve as his first official visit. Monk has scheduled visits to Kansas on October 10th, Kentucky on October 17th and Arkansas on October 24th.
  • Kentucky will host five-star wing and Huntington (W.V.) Prep standout Miles Bridges for his final official visit this weekend. Bridges took a trip to Michigan State last weekend and visited Indiana at the end of August. Bridges told Scout last week that he intends to announce his college choice on October 3rd.
  • Marques Bolden, a five-star prospect and the No. 12 overall recruit, started his second official visit Thursday evening at Duke. The Blue Devils already hold pledges from a pair of five-star prospects (Jayson Tatum and Frank Jackson). Bolden has already taken an official to Kentucky and has scheduled an unofficial and official to Kansas.

Other Key Weekend Visits

  • Kansas will host a pair of targets this coming weekend. Udoka Azubuike, Scout's No. 36 ranked player, and Mitch Lightfoot are both scheduled to be in Lawrence (Kans.) for official visits.
  • Top 100 power forward Eric Curry did an in-home visit with Arkansas this week and now is scheduled to be on their campus for an official visit this weekend. Curry has already visited Minnesota and SMU.
  • Four-star big man Jayce Johnson is taking an official visit to Colorado 
  • Fresh off a verbal commitment to Illinois, Te'Jon Lucas will take an official visit to Champaign (Ill.) to see his future school
  • Indiana has four-star 2017 guard Jordan Poole Jordan Poole headed to campus for an unofficial visit
  • Four-star power forward Tyler Cook will take an official visit to Iowa
  • After taking an official visit to Mississippi State last weekend, Tyson Carter will be at Memphis for an official this weekend
  • DeJon Jarreau and Brison Gresham, who have discussed being a package deal, will take official visits to Miami 
  • North Carolina will host four-star and very talented wing Brandon Robinson for an official this weekend
  • Mitchell Smith will take an official visit to Missouri
  • New Mexico will host Damien Jefferson for an official visit 
  • Top 100 big man M.J. Cage will take an official visit to Oregon
  • Pittsburgh will host Maliek White and Justice Kithcart for official visits
  • Providence will have 2016 combination forward Jalen Johnson in town
  • Mario Kegler will take his first official visit out to Arizona State. He also has visits schedule to Penn State, Maryland and Indiana
  • Purdue will host Carsen EdwardsKyle Young and Sagaba Konate for visits. Edwards and Young will be on unofficial visits, while Konate's trip is an official
  • Seton Hall has a significant weekend, as key targets Bryce Aiken and Myles Powell will make official visits
  • Alabama will host top 100, versatile forward Braxton Key (formerly Blackwell) for an official visit
  • St. Mary's has Elijah Thomas headed to campus for an official visit
  • Christian Vital has scheduled an official visit to UNLV for the weekend
  • Earlier in the week USC picked up a commitment from De'Anthony Melton, now they'll host top target Jonah Mathews for a visit
  • Wisconsin has JaQuori McLaughlin headed to campus for an official visit
  • Xavier is bringing Eddie Ekiyor to town for an official visit
  • 2016 big man Dontay Bassett will take official visit to Oregon State this weekend
  • Frank Haith and Tulsa will have Travis Atson and Clifton Powell on campus for official visits
