Kevin Williard and Seton Hall have been looking to land some quality backcourt pieces in the class of 2016, and they got a huge commitment on Saturday afternoon from four-star shooting guard Myles Powell. Powell, who might be the best pure shooter in the class, had been leaning to Seton Hall for a little while, and he made his commitment official on Saturday afternoon.
"I am glad to announce that I have verbally committed to accept a scholarship from Seton Hall University," said Powell.
Powell had narrowed his list of options down to Seton Hall, Connecticut, DePaul, VCU, and Pittsburgh, but in the end the Pirates at homefield advantage and that along with the effort they put in for him during the recruiting process proved to be too much for anyone else to overcome.
With the expected departure of starting shooting guard Isaiah Whitehead to the NBA Draft, there is a good chance that Powell could come in and either immediately start, or compete for major minutes from day one.
Along with being able to really shoot the basketball, Powell also has a high basketball IQ and a very good feel for the game. He isn't a point guard, but his ability to see the floor and understand where people are going to be makes him one of the better offensive players in the class.
