The New Mexico Lobos got a key piece done in their 2016 class on Saturday evening. Legacy recruit, and Indiana native Damien Jefferson picked the Mountain West school. An athletic 6-foot-4 prospect, Jefferson committed while on his visit.
All year long New Mexico was considered the favorite for Jefferson. His father starred for the Lobos, and they were the school putting in the most work to land his commitment. That work ended up being rewarded in a big way with his commitment.
About his commitment, Jefferson said, “It was the coaches, the team, and the atmosphere here. I just love everything out here so I knew it was the right place for me.”
Jefferson’s athleticism and toughness project him to be a plus defender to go along with being a good outside shooter and someone who will rebound the basketball. He should be a good fit for the Lobos moving forward in the league.
