Five-star center prospect Austin Wiley verbally committed to Auburn on Saturday, he told Scout.
Wiley, a 6-foot-10 big man, was driving to Auburn's campus for an unofficial visit when he opted to go ahead and pull the trigger for Bruce Pearl and the Tigers.
"It’s just the right fit," Wiley explained as he was pulling up to campus. "Everything was just perfect."
"It was just time," he added.
Both of Wiley's parents played at Auburn and the talented big man has been by their campus unofficially multiple times.
"It factored in a lot," he said when asked about being a legacy recruit. "For me eveyrthing was right. The facilities, the school and the coaches. Everything was just right."
Auburn's recruiting has certainly picked up as of late. In 2015, Pearl picked up a pair of top 100 pledges. He's added the No. 23 overall player Mustapha Heron in 2016 and currently has the No. 12 overall class. Now he's added the No. 13 overall prospect in 2017.
"We just want to help the program get to where it used to be when it was No. 1," Wiley said. "We feel like we have the culture. We think we can help it get back and rebuilding."
"He's energetic and he can motivate anybody to do anything," he added about Pearl.
Wiley is Auburn's first pledge of the 2017 class.
