The George Washington Colonials have been working to establish themselves up and down the Eastern Seaboard. They got a huge commitment on Friday evening as Kevin Marfo selected the Atlantic 10 program.
Marfo, who is a very skilled 6-foot-8 post prospect, selected George Washington over Providence and Boston College. This is a big get for the Colonials because Marfo can score on the low block and is a good rebounder.
"I am grateful and appreciative to all the schools that recruited me," said Marfo. But I will be spending the next 4 years at George Washington University."
While Marfo isn’t an explosive athlete, he is someone with a lot of savvy who knows how to get things done. Playing with BABC in the Nike EYBL, Marfo averaged 11.1 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
That production combined with very solid academics and solid intangibles led to his stock soaring during the summer with high-major offers coming in from numerous schools.
This commitment is huge for George Washington as they try and keep things rolling in Washington D.C. and continue to move the program to the top of their league.
