In the class of 2017 one prospect who made a huge impact at the Hoop Seen Fall Preview was A.J. Oliver. Oliver, who brings good size and athleticism to the wing position, showed he could be considered one of the best wings in the south before it is all said and done.
Heading into his junior season there are high expectations for Oliver, and he has some big goals in mind.
“My expectations are to get to state this year,” noted Oliver. “We have missed the playoffs the last two years, but I feel with my improvement on defense and with my ball handling and since we have more players this year I think we can get to state.”
When it comes to his recruitment, Oliver says he is getting some major attention.
“Probably the most attention is from Texas Tech, Richmond, Clemson, Wofford, Old Dominion, and Georgetown,” said Oliver. “I have been to Clemson and Richmond, and I am planning to get to Oregon for a visit around Thanksgiving.”
With Clemson being close to home he is familiar with the school and has a good relationship with the coaching staff as well.
“I kind of live there, so I am right down the street,” said Oliver. “They talk to me almost every day, and I see them a lot, and we have a good relationship.”
While he has been to Clemson numerous times, Oliver says he is looking forward to seeing what it is like at Oregon.
“I want to see what they can bring to the table,” said Oliver of Oregon. “I want to see how I would fit in to the program, what they have in store for me, and just if they really want me.”
For now there is no hurry to make a decision, and Oliver says he wants to take his time and see all of his options.
