2017 power forward Tristan Clark verbally committed to Scott Drew and Baylor on Friday, he told Scout.
“The first time I walked on the campus it just felt right,” Clark said. “I liked the basketball program. The little town of Waco fits me real well. I like the coaching staff. It’s just the perfect fit. It’s close to home and I just felt like it was the best fit.”
Clark, who transferred from San Antonio (Tex.) Judson to Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep, for his junior season, took an unofficial visit to Baylor’s campus on Friday. It was Clark’s third trip to their campus.
“They were really after me,” Clark said. “Especially now that I’m at Findlay. They came up there a couple times. I talked to them a lot and I built a good relationship them. They really wanted me.”
Clark raved about his future head coach.
“Coach Drew is a real positive guy,” he said. “He’s an energy guy. He doesn’t let you down. He just wants to help you. I like him a lot. You can talk about anything. It can be about anything. He’s just an energy and positive guy. That’s what I really like about him.”
Clark said he also considered Creighton and New Mexico and had previously taken visits to Texas and Rice.
The Clark pledge gives Baylor their first commitment for their 2017 recruiting class.
