Goanar Mar is improving and hosting a lot of colleges

Three-star wing Goanar Mar out of Minnesota is making strides with his game, and is attracting a lot of high-major attention.

Wing Goanar Mar has always shown the ability to shoot the basketball. The class of 2017 standout had a solid spring and summer with D1 Minnesota, and recently he excelled at the NY2LA Futures Camp. Now Mar is hosting college coaches and making some unofficial visits.

“I like to be versatile,” said Mar. “I like to not only bring guys out on the perimeter and drive by them, or if I have a smaller guy on me I like to go to the post. I’ve been working on getting stronger and improving my ball handling, and things like that.”

When it comes to recruiting a lot of high-major schools have been by to see Mar this fall.

“So far Marquette, Nebraska, Minnesota, Creighton, Wisconsin, and Arizona have been in to see me,” said Mar.

He continued, “I just visited Wisconsin and I will go to Minnesota soon as well.”

The visit to Wisconsin was a good one for Mar, and the Badgers coaching staff made it clear they would continue to monitor him this year.

“It was a good time,” said Mar. “The football game was cool. It was a great atmosphere there. The coaches have been telling me to they are going to really evaluate me during the year and that I just need to keep getting better every day.”

With Minnesota it is an easy trip for Mar, and he has been in close contact with the Gopher coaching staff.

“I like them a lot,” said Mar. “I talk to Coach Ben Johnson a lot and Coach (Richard) Pitino a little bit. They are telling me they like me and that they are going to watch me this year, and to keep working on my skill development and getting stronger.”

Look for Mar to keep improving as the year goes along, and for more high-major coaches to take note of his game.
