Major schools are involved in McKinley Wright's recruitment

Point guard McKinley Wright continues to emerge and improve his game. Meanwhile college coaches are taking notice.

It is never easy to find pure point guards, and in the class of 2017 one who is gaining a lot of momentum on the recruiting trail is McKinley Wright. Wright has seen his stock go up considerably in the last year, and has significant high-major interest.

“My game has come a long way,” said Wright. “I am still working to become a better shooter. I am shooting it better, and I think I am doing a good job of getting my teammates involved, so my game is coming along well.”

When it comes to recruiting, Wright said, “I have had a lot of schools come in. Oklahoma, Kansas State, Iowa State, Dayton, Minnesota, Nebraska, Marquette, and Clemson have all been in.”

He continued, “I am trying to set up visits with Clemson and Iowa State.”

New Head Coach Steve Prohm has hit the recruiting trail hard for the Cyclones, and Wright says that he is extremely interested in the program.

“I am highly interested in Iowa State and they are interested in me,” noted Wright. “I talk to them almost every day. They tell me they need a 2017 point guard, so I am very interested in them.”

When it comes to the Clemson Tigers, Wright sees opportunity and is building a bond with the staff.

“It is a great program and in the ACC with a good coaching staff,” said Wright. “I am close with the coaching staff and they need a 2017 point guard as well.”

At the moment Wright is in no hurry to make any kind of college decision. He is focused on getting better and gaining as much information as he can about the schools recruiting him.
