Power forward Darius Hicks is seeing his stock go up this fall. Now at 22 Ft Academy, Hicks is an athletic power forward that has been on the radar for a while, and might be ready to make the next step as a player.
“Since I have been down here I feel I have gotten stronger and finishing better through contact,” noted Hicks. “Also I have been working on different ways to score the ball and I have been focused on playing defense within a team concept.”
In terms of his recruitment numerous schools are involved with Hicks, but he says that one is definitely showing the most attention at this point.
“I don’t know all of the schools recruiting me, but I know that Providence is definitely recruiting me the hardest,” noted Hicks.
Ed Cooley recently made the trip down to South Carolina to check in on Hicks, and Hicks feels that he and the Providence staff are building a good relationship.
“They have said that I can come in right away and play a lot of minutes as a freshman,” said Hicks of Providence. “I feel like they are a good coaching staff and I like them a lot. They just think that I would have a great opportunity to play right away.”
At this point Hicks says he has no specific timeframe for a decision, but when the time does come to make a choice he knows what he will be looking for in a school.
“I want to go to a school where I have a good relationship with the coaches and a place where I will have a chance to play immediately,” noted Hicks.
