It was decision day on the final day of the signing period for Bruce Brown. The four-star guard decided to wait until the last moment to issue his commitment, and he decided between Miami and Indiana. In the end it was the Miami Hurricanes that came out on top for one of the toughest guards in the country.
In what will go down as one of the more interesting recruitments, Miami won out. What made this so unique is that Brown very rarely communicated directly with the coaches involved. He preferred to sit back and take more of a laid back approach. Also it was known that Brown’s mother seemed to favor the Hoosiers the entire time.
However at the end of the day, Brown made his decision and he picked the Hurricanes, and this is huge news for Miami.
While he isn’t a pure point guard, Brown can play some point guard, and Miami was in desperate need of guards. Brown is one of the most aggressive and tough drivers in the class, and he at times can put a team on his back and make plays.
Also when it comes to the defensive end of the floor, Brown is one of the best when it comes to on ball defense. He is long, he has great lateral movement, and is a very physically strong kid as well. All of that combines to make Brown one of the best defenders in the class of 2016.
Now Miami has two four-star commitments with Brown and big man Rodney Miller. If the Hurricanes also land five-star power forward Dewan Huell later in the day it will be a top 25 class for them.
Also this is an expected big class for Miami, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Hurricanes add another player or two during the spring.
