Four-star Paul Scruggs is ready for a big year

Football season is now in the past and Paul Scruggs is ready for a big junior year as his recruitment continues to ramp up.

There is no rest for four-star guard Paul Scruggs. The highly athletic and tough Scruggs decided to test his skill on the football field this fall. Now with the season over, Scruggs is ready to get back to his bread and butter on the basketball court for a team with high expectations.

“I am feeling really good,” noted Scruggs. “I didn’t take any days off after football, that just isn’t me. I came straight in and did conditioning with the basketball team. I am still a little rusty, but it is all good.”

For Scruggs the football experience was a first for him, and it is one he is definitely glad he did. In fact he thinks it will even help him as a basketball player.

“It was a good experience,” explained Scruggs. “I am glad that I did it. I think it is helping me to be more physical on the basketball court.”

When it comes to recruiting Scruggs continues to hear from numerous schools. Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Ohio State, Xavier, Michigan State, Kansas, and others have all stayed in contact with him.

Two of the schools that have been the most active would be Indiana and Michigan State, and he likes what each program is saying.

“I like Indiana a lot,” said Scrugs of the Hoosiers. “They have been there since I was in the seventh grade. They just show me a lot of love and I have a good relationship with them.”

When it comes to the Spartans, Scruggs says, “I am building a very good relationship with Michigan State. They have been watching me for a very long time, and myself and Coach Fife are becoming very close.”

For now Scruggs is in no hurry with his recruitment and is focused on winning a state title with his team. When the time does come to think about a commitment he says his fit academically as well as basketball will be huge.
