Three-star wing Javon Pickett is one of the more talented players in Illinois, and could be someone who sees his stock soar during the high school season. Already things are picking up on the recruiting trail, and Pickett is prepared for a big season.
“This season I am looking forward to leading my team,” said Pickett. “We are all working hard during practice, and we are trying to instill things and be better than last season. We should be one of the better teams in the area this year, and I look forward to having a big season.”
On the recruiting side of things several schools have been through to check in on Pickett.
“I know that Illinois, Northwestern, Creighton, Bradley, Nebraska, St. Louis, UAB, and Kansas State have dropped by the school,” noted Pickett. “Also I have been talking to Cincinnati a lot.”
Illinois has been one of the schools on Pickett the hardest, and he says he likes a lot of things about the Illini.
“Malcolm (Hill) goes there so that is good,” said Pickett. “I like the way they play and how they get up and down the floor. Also it is close to home so my family could come to the game. Also they seem to have a good chemistry there.”
About Nebraska Pickett said, “I haven’t talked to them a ton, but they came to the open gym and they told me they like how I play and that they are interested in seeing me during the season.”
One school that Pickett admits to wanting to catch on TV to check in on them is the Cincinnati Bearcats.
“I’ve been trying to watch them on TV,” said Pickett. “I just like how they get out and play. They like to get up and down and their coach gives them great freedom.”
For now Pickett is in no hurry to make a college choice and is focused on improving and figuring out as much as he can about the schools in the mix for his services.
